The Wessex PolarOne Grit & Salt Spreader is a premium, low-maintenance solution built for high-demand winter maintenance applications. Designed and manufactured in the UK, the PolarOne range (models like the WS‑900 and WS‑1200) delivers reliable grit and salt distribution across roads, paths, parking areas, and estate grounds.
Constructed to withstand harsh winter conditions, the PolarOne spreader features a polypropylene hopper paired with stainless steel components for corrosion resistance and long-term durability. This self-supporting hopper design helps reduce weight while maintaining strength for regular use.
One of the standout innovations of the PolarOne line is the PolarFlo vibration system, a patented automatic vibration control that ensures consistent material flow onto the spinner even with uneven or damp grit. This prevents clogging and improves the efficiency and accuracy of spreading operations.
The spreader offers several mounting and control options to suit different operational needs:
- Model ST – basic manual operation for simple, no-frills spreading
- Model GT – includes GPS speed control to adjust flow rate in real time and maintain a precise application rate
- Model Commander – includes full telematics and remote tracking, allowing real-time monitoring of spreading data, route logs, and application rates.
Additionally, PolarOne spreaders come with an integral liquid brine tank (465 L on WS-900, 550 L on WS-1200) which allows simultaneous spreading of salt and brine from one machine. An extended auger design improves weight distribution on the host vehicle, and the large-diameter auger with a delivery tunnel can handle a wide variety of materials without blockage.
Despite its advanced capabilities, the PolarOne remains low-maintenance: no engines, chains, belts, or grease points are needed, reducing service requirements and long-term costs. With a fold-up adjustable spinner height, the unit is compatible with various mounting setups — it can be mounted on a trailer or directly to a vehicle bed.
